The Garmin Edge 1030 Plus review in a nutshell: this is easy one of the most capable and best bike computers on sale today, with enough statistics and metrics tracking to keep every kind of cyclist entertained for months.

With the Edge 1030 Plus, Garmin has replaced it predecessor flagship model with what looks like a doppelgänger, but the updates are largely beneath the surface and include increased internal storage, a more responsive touchscreen, a bunch of new features and massively increased battery life. In essence, it has taken all that was great about the 1030 and improved upon it.

At 58 x 114 x 19 mm, it is considerably larger than rival bike computers from the likes of Wahoo and Lezyne and sticks out a fair way when mounted to the traditional ‘out-front’ bike mount. It’s not far off mounting a smartphone and felt particularly cumbersome when strapped to my mountain bike bars. But then you do get a glorious 2.6-inch full colour touchscreen display to play with.

It does the basics very well and anyone already using Garmin’s ecosystem of connected pedals, power metres, heart rate sensors and, more importantly, the Garmin Connect smartphone app, will be well versed with settings things up
